A2 landscape commission completed in graphite pencil

The biggest commission to date, 6 weeks of dedicated drawing meant that I completed this trio, influenced by the stunning portrait ‘We Three Kings’ consisting of 3 famous racehorses: Desert Orchid, Red Rum and Arkle, by Susan Crawford (hence the title of this commission). Once the task of keeping these 3 still for individual photo shoots was achieved it was then a challenge to ensure that all proportions were kept between the different breeds as well as the subtle differences in coat structure and sleekness. But one that I have to say is a favourite as it is such a striking final result.
